The primary objective of the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety programme is to provide a recognised qualification for those with a professional interest in, or involved in the application of, occupational health and safety at work. Participants will also have the opportunity to review and prepare safety related documentation and risk assessments for their own workplace.
Who Should Attend?
The programme is designed to provide a recognised qualification for those with a professional interest in, or involved in the application of, occupational health and safety at work. Therefore participants are required to be working in the area of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or Management, or intending to move into this field.

Programme Content:
- Safety Health and Welfare at work legislation and regulations
- Safety Statement preparation and maintenance
- Consultation and the role of the safety representative
- Managing Workplace hazards
- Risk Assessment
- Manual Handling
- Electrical, Machinery and Chemical Safety
- First Aid
- Physical and Biological Agents
Approach:
There are a number of activities and case studies as part of the course to ensure that the key knowledge and skills are practiced. Participants will be required to prepare two projects of 3,500-4,000 words and a learning journal along with a supervised exam at the end of the programme.
The programme is delivered by experienced Ibec Executives who provide members with advice, consultancy and training on a daily basis. Programme participants are encouraged to express their views and experiences. The programme facilitates participant discussion to ensure a thorough understanding of the key points and their application. Real life case studies and exercises will be used to ensure a real practical understanding of each topic.
